Somatic Experiencing® (SE)

Exploring Mind-Body Connections

Somatic experiencing® (SE) is a body-oriented approach to counselling that focuses on the connections between the mind and body.

At Breland Counselling, our SE sessions are designed to help clients explore and release tension, trauma, and stress held in the body, promoting healing and well-being.

Understanding SE

SE is based on the idea that traumatic experiences can become stored in the body as physical sensations and patterns of tension.

Our therapists use gentle, non-invasive techniques to help clients explore and release these sensations, promoting relaxation, resilience, and emotional healing.

Working with the Nervous System

In SE sessions, clients learn to tune into their body sensations and notice how they relate to their emotions and experiences. By working with the autonomic nervous system, clients can learn to regulate their arousal levels, reduce stress, and restore a sense of safety and well-being.

Releasing Trauma and Stress

SE sessions often involve gentle movements, breathwork, and mindfulness practices to help clients release tension, trauma, and stress held in the body. Our therapists provide compassionate support and guidance throughout the process, helping clients navigate their healing journey with greater ease and resilience.

Promoting Resilience and Well-Being

SE is not only about releasing tension and trauma but also about promoting resilience and well-being.

By learning to listen to their body’s signals and respond with compassion and care, clients can develop greater self-awareness, self-regulation, and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
