Parenting Support After Trauma

Helping You Understand, Support & Reconnect With Your Child

When a child has experienced trauma, parents and caregivers can be left wondering how to help. Changes in behaviour, big emotions, withdrawal, anxiety or difficulty feeling safe can be challenging to understand and respond to.

Parenting support after trauma provides a space to better understand what your child may be experiencing and learn ways to support their emotional needs, strengthen connection and create a greater sense of safety at home.

Parenting support can help you navigate:

  • Understanding trauma-related behaviours
  • Emotional regulation and big emotions
  • Attachment and connection
  • Communication with your child
  • Changes in family relationships
  • Building safety, trust and predictability
Supporting your child starts with understanding what they may be trying to communicate.

Trauma can affect children in different ways depending on their age, experiences, relationships and development. Working with a counsellor can help parents and caregivers look beyond behaviour and better understand what may be happening underneath it.

Through trauma-informed parenting support, Erin and Chelsey work alongside parents and caregivers to develop practical strategies that respond to their child’s individual needs while strengthening connection within the family.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Support can help you better understand your child and feel more confident in how you respond when things are difficult.
